Attack and Shield Damage

Contents

While Axie's battles can sometimes seem basic at first glance, there is much more below. After doing your first couple of battles, you start wondering how you can do more damage and keep your tank alive for a few more rounds. Next, I will try to break it down in the simplest way possible.

Topics covered in this guide:

  • Calculate damage
  • Rock Paper Scissors Bonus
  • Combined attacks
  • The same kind of Axie and letters
  • Calculating Shield
  • Bonus Shield Chained
  • Putting it all together

Calculate damage

There are a couple of variables that affect the amount of damage your Axes deal with each attack.:

  • Stone, paper, pair of scissors / class advantages
  • Combined attacks
  • Same class attacking Axie and Card.
  • Critical attacks
  • Does the Axiedefender have a shield? If so, how many?

Ventajas de Rock Paper Scissors-RPS / Class

The advantages of the Axie class are based on the old game of “Stone, paper, pair of scissors”. Each class in Axie Infinity has classes against which you get a bonus damage of the 15%, and there are other classes that get a bonus against you.

The most important thing to keep in mind about the “Bono RPS” is that it is based on Ability / Attacking part and the Axie body class he defends. Attacking Axie's body class does not play in the RPS bonus, but it will have its effects in later sections.

Also note that the RPS bonus can work both ways. look at the examples to be continued.

RPS bonus examples:

A beast attack card (Diablillo, Nutcracker, Hero) that attacks an ax from the body of a plant.

The Beast card has an advantage over the Plant Defender, so you get an additional bonus from 15% to your harm.

A water attack card (Teal Shell, Shoal Star, Koi) attacking an ax from the body of a plant.

The Water Attack makes a 15% less damage as Plant Defender has an advantage over water.

A bird attack card (cernícalo, owl, palomar) attacking a body ax Water.

Axie bird y Water they are neutral (none have an advantage) so the attack will do the base damage.

Combined attacks

Combo attacks are when an ax attacks with two or more cards in a round. Combos will add a bit of damage based on the skill of the ax the combo plays. The higher the skill, more additional damage.

The formula for calculating the combined damage is: (attack * ability) / 500

Combined example:

A
Water With 35 abilities, play two cards: Hare (120 Of damage) y Hungry Bird (110).

35 * 120 = 4200/500 = 8,4
The hare will suffer approximately 8 additional damage since another card was played.

35 * 110 = 3850/500 = 7,7
Hungry Bird will receive approximately 7-8 damage since it was played with another card

Combo Attack Notes:

The formula is not exact. In tests, may be deviated in 1 about (maybe due to decimals and rounding) but it brings you to the general estimate
Playing more cards in a combo does NOT increase the combo bonus. The formula is the same for each card played, either a combo of 2 cards or a combo of 4 letters.

Same class and letter attacking an Axie

Another variable to calculate the damage is if the attacking ax is using a card of the same class as his body. For instance, a beast that has Imp or Goda.

The two abilities in red circles get the “same class bonus”

Any attack that has the same attack card class as the body class will get a bonus from 15%. For instance, Imp (110 base damage) into a beast will do 126 Of damage.

Critical attacks

Critical attacks are a bit random, so they won't be covered in great detail, but you must take them into account. The probability that each ax will land a critical hit is based on its morale. The higher the morale, the greater the chance of a critical hit.

If your ax is lucky and you generate a “critical”, will inflict a 200% damage to the ax that defends.

Does the Axie defender have a shield?

The last piece of the puzzle is whether the defending ax has shields. Otherwise, every attack (more bonuses) will remove health from defenders.

If the ax has shields, the attacking ax will remove the shield until the shield disappears, then it will start to take away health. There are some cards that can ignore the shield for an attack (double talks and stuns mainly) but that's a more advanced guide.

Shield example:

If a defender ax has 80 shields and an ax attacks him for 100 Of damage, the defender will lose his shield for 80 and also 20 of health.

Calculating Shield

There are two different bonuses that can add additional shields for defenders:

Voucher of the same class
Chaining Bonus

Shield bonus of the same class

This shield bonus is the “same class bonus” which is similar to attacks. For each defender role you play that is of the same class as the defending corps, you will get a bonus of 15%.

Examples of bonus shields of the same class:

You are defending with a tank of plants and you play Hermit (water letter) and
Carrot (floor card). Only the The carrot will get the bonus of 15% since the letter matches the class.

screen-shot-2020-03-03-at-8-21-44-pm-4264785
The 3 plant movements in red will receive a shield bonus from the 15% when they play.

A plant plays Hermit (base shield 100 – water letter) and Carrot (base shield 40 – land card). The total base shield is 140. The carrot gets a bonus from 15% since it is a plant card and a plant played it. Now the shield of the carrot is 46, so the total shield that this ax will get is 146

Chaining Bonus

Chaining is when two or more axes play the same type of card in a round. The class of axie bodies does not matter for chaining. For instance, and a water ax plays Beech (plant letter) and an insect ax plays Shiitake (plant letter), would chain together and gain a shield bonus of approximately one 5-6%.

screen-shot-2020-03-03-at-8-42-06-pm-4943778
Two axes playing the same type of cards to form a chain.

String bonus example:

Axie 1 play
Carrot (plant) and Hermit (Water)
Axie 2 play shiitake (plant) y Tiny Dino (reptile)

The carrot (base shield 40) y Shiitake (base shield 40) they are plants, so they get the chain bonus. Hermit and Tiny Dino have no other cards of their kind played, so they keep their base shield. The shields of each ax add up:

Axie 1 – Carrot (42 shield after bonus increase) + Hermit (base shield 100) = total shield 142
Axie 2 – Shiitake (42 shield after bonus increase) + Tiny Dino (80 base shield) = 122 total shield

Putting it all together

We just covered a lot of different bonuses and a few different calculations. It may seem overwhelming at first, but don't expect to discover these numbers on the fly during a game. The objective is that you can identify synergies when buying and propose your next axes.

Any of the attack or shield bonuses stack. Later, can get RPS bonus + a card bonus of the same kind + a combined bonus, all in one attack.

Pure beast playing over 2 cards against a plant tank = bad news for the plant.
